Car Insurance Matters

About Me

Car Insurance Matters

I still remember the day that I drove off of that used car lot with my first car. In my excitement to show off my new ride to my friends, I smashed my car into a telephone pole. Although I can laugh about the accident now, it was devastating at the time. In addition to completely destroying my reputation, I also had to deal with the expenses that were involved with the wreck. Unfortunately, I hadn't purchased car insurance, so I had to foot the repair bills on my own. After getting my car fixed and thinking about my actions, it was very clear to me that I needed to invest in a car insurance policy. I decided to learn as much as I could about insurance, and that is one of the reasons that I decided to become an insurance agent.

Tips For Saving On Insurance When House Shopping

Shopping for a home can be extremely exciting and although you have a budget for how much you can spend on your purchase, there are other expenses that you'll want to take into consideration. So, before you select a home, consider the cost of your homeowner's insurance as this is an expense that can definitely add up if you don't buy the right home. So, when shopping for a new home, consider the following:

Crime Rates:

Crime rates can definitely influence the cost of what you will pay for your homeowner's insurance as communities with high rates can be at risk for home theft accidents, which your insurance company will see you as a big liability. So, look at crime rate trends for the neighborhood that you are interested in as this can potentially save you a great deal of money by avoiding the possibility of moving into a bad community.

Recurring Weather Damages:

If you move into a specific part of town that deals with flooding or fire disasters then be aware that your insurance rate will likely be increased. Also, some insurance companies can potentially decline you coverage so do your homework to see which communities are located in the safest part of town when it comes to weather conditions.

Nearby Fire Stations:

Homes that are located 5 miles within a fire station can be a very effective way to reduce the cost of your homeowner's insurance rate. Not only does this help you save money but this of course keeps you better protected in case of a small house fire as a fire station will be able to have a quicker response time. So, when seeking a new home, keep this in mind as this can save you money and help protect you and your home.

Taking advantage of these three tips can help you find a home that will have affordable homeowners insurance so you can keep your monthly expenses low. Not only will this help you obtain cheaper homeowners insurance, but it will ensure you are buying a home that is in a safe community so you can help avoid the hassle and stressful situation of potentially dealing with home break-ins or damages caused by weather conditions. So, before you rush your home purchase, be sure that you are finding opportunities to save on your new home by applying these tips into your home search process.
