Car Insurance Matters

About Me

Car Insurance Matters

I still remember the day that I drove off of that used car lot with my first car. In my excitement to show off my new ride to my friends, I smashed my car into a telephone pole. Although I can laugh about the accident now, it was devastating at the time. In addition to completely destroying my reputation, I also had to deal with the expenses that were involved with the wreck. Unfortunately, I hadn't purchased car insurance, so I had to foot the repair bills on my own. After getting my car fixed and thinking about my actions, it was very clear to me that I needed to invest in a car insurance policy. I decided to learn as much as I could about insurance, and that is one of the reasons that I decided to become an insurance agent.

Tips For Cutting Insurance Rates Without Losing Coverage

Is the cost of your auto insurance coverage hurting you financially? If your policy has become a monthly bill that you are struggling to pay for, then you are likely to reduce the amount of coverage that you have with your policy so you can pay less for your coverage. However, rather than assume that dropping coverage is the only way to save on your car insurance rate, there are a few great and beneficial ways that you can reduce your monthly payments, without having to lose any of your needed coverage. So, when seeking ways to drop the costs of your car insurance policy, be sure that you try the following:

Improve Your Driving Record

Points on your driving record can impact your car insurance rates more than you think. Not only can these impact your insurance rates, but they can do so for a long period of time, which can end up increasing your rates by hundreds if not thousands. So, rather than continuing to pay high rates for your coverage, consider taking safety courses that will help you remove points off of your record.  By having these points removed from your record, your driving record won't be a threat to your insurance provider and this will help you receive lower insurance rates.

Improve Your Security Features

One of the biggest factors that insurance companies look at when creating a rate for your insurance coverage is your risk of theft. Auto-theft can be a very expensive liability for your insurance, which is why they will likely charge higher rates if your car is more prone to auto theft. A great way to reduce your rates and to make yourself less of a liability is to equip your vehicle with security features. Some great security features to consider are adding a car alarm, a subscription service, and parking your car inside of your garage instead of on the road. This will help you lower your rates while being better protected.

Add A Household Family Member onto Your Policy:

You may not know, but adding a family member that lives with you onto your insurance policy can help you and your family member save on your insurance rates. This is because many insurance providers offer multi-driver and multi-coverage discounts, which you can take advantage of by adding other members in your family onto your policy.

Applying these tips won't only help you reduce how much you pay for your insurance policy, but it will allow you to keep all the coverage that you need, so you can continue to have full coverage. This will ensure you are fully protected, without having to overpay for your insurance coverage.
